With the initial collaboration back in February so well received world wide, Finnish design house Marimekko decided to have another run at its partnership with CONVERSE this Fall. The patterns chosen this upcoming season are juxtaposition of old and new. In part, as a celebration to Marimekko’s 60th anniversary, some of the original designs by Maija Isola, including the 1964 iconic poppy-like Unikko graphics, were put into play. In addition, the Paprika, also done by Maija Isola, was among some of the original Marimekko designs, in representation of its historical past. As for its more current history, designer Maija Louekari’s Kaleidoskooppi and Poni patterns were ideal in current rendition of Marimekko – vibrant, colorful, and ageless.
On 3 different CONVERSE silhouettes – Chuck Taylor All Star OX, Chuck Taylor All Star Hi, and Helen, the Marimekko x CONVERSE for Fall 2011 will be available at select CONVERSE retailers and its online shop starting Thursday, June 23rd 2011
