If anything, the new Canon PowerShot N Digital Camera is indicative of the growing competition camera makers like Canon is facing today. Designed to be the ideal “in-between” model comparing to a bulky point-and-shoot and your cellphone, the PowerShot N gives you the performance of its larger cousins with a 12.1 megapixel CMOS image sensor, DIGIC 5 Image Processor, and a 28mm wide-angel 8x optical zoom lens. Yet, at only 3.09 inches in width, it fits nicely in the palm of your hand. To minimize its physical footprint, most of the camera’s controls are on 2.8-inch LCD touchscreen display on its rear, capable pivoting outward for ease of usage. There is a shutter/zoom ring besides the lens as well for quick access. In addition to still images, there is a 1080p HD video function too, along with Hybrid Auto and Face ID systems, both proprietary technologies of Canon to improve image qualities. Wireless connected to the Internet directly, you canalso link the camera to a slew of mobile devices of your choice.

In white or black, the Canon PowerShot N Digital Camera will be available starting in April 2013 with a suggested price of US$ 299.99. Check out additional images and video of this innovative product.
